HC18 RECAP:
Record number of alumni return November 16-18 for Homecoming 2018

This Homecoming, the campus community welcomed nearly 1,000 alumni and guests with more than 60 receptions, performances and activities. VISIT OUR HOMECOMING HIGHLIGHTS page to view a gallery of images, read about our alumni award recipients, learn more about our Zero-Waste Homecoming commitment, and take a survey to help us improve your reunion next year. At Homecoming 2018, we’re celebrating the special reunion classes of 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2018 – but all classes are welcome (and encouraged) to attend!

- Campus historical tours will be available on the hour, every hour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. Berea College Visitor Center and Shoppe 


- While you're in town, visit the Berea Holiday Makers Market, featuring several fellow alumni | 11 a.m - 5 p.m., Sat., Nov. 17 at the Russel Acton Folk Center.



HOMECOMING SCHEDULE
Last year, the campus community hosted more than 50 events, including receptions, performances, parties, alumni panels, breakfasts, dances, and of course, basketball games and coronation. This is the final Homecoming schedule - events were added as they were confirmed. (Schedule updated 11.14.18)


SPIRIT WEEK
Get your Spirit Week outfits ready! 

  • Mon., Nov. 12 - Pajama Day - Roll out of bed and come dressed in your fave jammies
  • Tues., Nov. 13 - Twinning Tuesday - Grab your bestie(s) and twin like you've never twinned before
  • Wed., Nov. 14 - Show Your Spirit Gear Day - Show off your school spirit with your creative Berea College gear (which you can create the night before at the Spirit Gear Decorating event hosted by Student Life - 6-8 p.m. in Baird Lounge)
  • Thur., Nov. 15 - Favorite Character Day - Dress like your favorite fictional or non-fictional character
  • Fri., Nov. 16 - Blue & White Day - "In kinship between white and blue..." - you know what to do on this day!

SPIRIT WEEK CONTEST:

  1. Stop by Campus Life Office (Alumni Building) in your Spirit Day outfit by 5:00 p.m. each day and take a photo
  2. Student Life will post photos by 6:00 p.m. each day on the BC Student Life Facebook page
  3. “Like” the BC Student Life Facebook page
  4. Tag yourself in your photo and share it
  5. The outfit with the most “Likes” will be the winner for the day and get some sweet Berea gear from the BC Visitor Center & Shoppe

6 p.m. Documentary Dialogues: "We Still Live Here" | Berea College Forestry Outreach Center
A documentary about contemporary efforts of the Wampanoag nation to recover their language lost due to colonization. The link to the environment becomes evident in watching the film. 

6-8 p.m. Great Conversations | Boone Tavern  
Fostering student and alumni connections with networking and roundtable conversations. Reception begins at 6 p.m. Discussions begin at 7 p.m. For information about becoming an alumni presenter, contact volunteer coordinator Lisa Colletti-Jones.

3-5 p.m. Opening Exhibit for "Hutchins Library EST 1966" | Hutchins Library
Explore the history, development and evolution of Berea College’s library. From an initial room in Lincoln Hall to our current library named for Presidents William and Francis Hutchins, the library at Berea has been the “living room” of campus. Presented by Special Collections and Archives, the exhibit was curated by Samantha Sise' 19 with assistance from Chris Miller, Curator and Associate Director of the Loyal Jones Appalachian Center.
